Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting On Wednesday was created by Jill at Breaking The Spine. It's a weekly post where you share the books you can't wait to read! Check out the Waiting on Wednesday posts on my affiliate, Amber Skye's blog, Reading Addict! This week's Waiting on Wednesday post is about the upcoming novel, Ripple by Mandy Hubbard.

About the Book:

Lexi is cursed with a dark secret. Each day she goes to school like a normal teenager, and each night she must swim, or the pain will be unbearable. She is a siren - a deadly mermaid destined to lure men to their watery deaths. After a terrible tragedy, Lexi shut herself off from the world, vowing to protect the ones she loves. But she soon finds herself caught between a new boy at school who may have the power to melt her icy exterior, and a handsome water spirit who says he can break Lexi's curse if she gives up everything else. Lexi is faced with the hardest decision she's ever had to make: the life she's always longed for - or the love she can't live without? (from goodreads)

My Thoughts:

I can't wait to read this book! I love mermaid stories, and hopefully this novel will put a new spin on the old tale. It is set to be released in July.

Teaser Tuesday is a meme created by MizB at Should Be Reading and it's open to everyone! Here are the instructions from my affiliate, Amber at Reading Addict:
-Grab your current read.
-Open to a random page.
-Share a couple of “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page.
-BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)

"6,00 p.m.: I feel a bit sick. I've got a bit of hair that will NOT go right, in a minute I am going to cut it off. Also, I think I have knobbly knees. Maybe when I'm Mark's wife I could have fat injuected into them (possibly taken from my nose, so it would be a two-in-one operation...smaller nose and fatter knees all in one swift plunge of the huge, hypodermic, fat-extractor needle...er, I really do feel sick...)."
I absolutely love Lousie Rennison's Confessions of Georgia Nicholson series. It is completely hilarious and I don't think I've ever laughed out loud so much while reading a book...slightly embarrassing during a quiet class. Look out for the review soon!

Review: Abandon by Meg Cabot

Title: Abandon
Author: Meg Cabot
Series: --
Release Date: 2011
Page #: 304

New from #1 New York Times bestselling author Meg Cabot, a dark, fantastical story about this world . . . and the underworld.
Though she tries returning to the life she knew before the accident, Pierce can't help but feel at once a part of this world, and apart from it. Yet she's never alone . . . because someone is always watching her. Escape from the realm of the dead is impossible when someone there wants you back.
But now she's moved to a new town. Maybe at her new school, she can start fresh. Maybe she can stop feeling so afraid.

Only she can't. Because even here, he finds her. That's how desperately he wants her back. She knows he's no guardian angel, and his dark world isn't exactly heaven, yet she can't stay away . . . especially since he always appears when she least expects it, but exactly when she needs him most.

But if she lets herself fall any further, she may just find herself back in the one place she most fears: the Underworld.
